Turn even a tiny garden into a mini-meadow for pollinators
Researchers at the University of Sussex found that even a space of just 4m squared is enough to support biodiversity creating a rich habitat for pollinators. Working alongside citizen scientists across the UK for more than two years, the researchers looked at the effectiveness of sown wildflower mini-meadows in gardens and allotments. Using commercially available seed mixes, trained specialists identified insects in the mini-meadows and found they were supporting an average 111% more bumblebees compared to similar plots where no wildflowers had been sown.
