Living on a greener street or having views of blue spaces from home improves sleep
New research led by the University of Exeter’s European Centre for Environment and Human Health, reports that living on greener streets with visible grass, trees and vegetation or with views of blue space like rivers, lakes or the ocean is linked to better and longer sleep. The research included several varieties of environments from 18 different countries and reviewed data from more than 16,000 people.
Lack of sleep, defined as fewer than six hours a night is linked to a range of adverse health outcomes, including obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disorders and an increased risk of mortality.
