Hot flushes and diabetes
Results from a new study, published by Menopause, the journal of The North American Menopause Society suggests that hot flushes, especially when accompanied by night sweats may be linked to the increased risk of developing diabetes.
Data was analyzed from 150,000 post menopausal women, 33% of the women experienced hot flushes and it was found that any incidence of hot flushes was associated with an 18% increased risk of developing diabetes and the risk grew with the severity and duration of hot flushes.
NOTE: The North American Menopause Society, founded in 1989 is a non profit, multidisciplinary organisation.
